I-Logik announced today the beginning of the testing phase for their brand new application, File Server Optimiser. File Server Optimiser is a fully automated optimisation tool. Using the I-Logik optimisation libraries, IT administrators now have the ability to automate and schedule the optimisation of their network.

I-Logik plan to fully release File Server Optimiser in July.

I-Logik proudly announced today the release of MailPackIT MO.

MailPackIT MO is a plug-in for Microsoft Outlook and allows users to send large files quickly and efficiently by optimising them upon attachment. MailPackIT MO utilises all of the I-Logik Optimisation libraries apart from PST compression. Therefore the following email attachments can be optimised:

• Microsoft PowerPoint presentations (.ppt)
• Microsoft Word documents (.doc)
• Various image file formats including jpeg images.

The recipient of the email will need no additional software to view the optimised attachments.

MailPackIT PST provides server administrators with the ability to search and compress PST files on a file server. The contents of the PST files is automatically analysed and all compressible attachments optimised. Optimisation libraries are available for:

• Microsoft PowerPoint files (.ppt)
• Microsoft Word files (.doc)
• Jpeg Images

"Microsoft Outlook PST files provide a solution to the problem of overflowing inboxes. Email is moved from a users online message store to a local PST file. These PST are then often placed onto a file server for safe keeping. Although the user has alleviated the problem of space in their mailbox, consequently they have created further problems and costs for administration."

"The major drawback of PST files is that they are extremely large in size. It is not uncommon to find a PST file on a corporate file server of well over 1GB. Multiply this by the total number of users and suddenly the vast majority of space on a file server is swallowed up by PST files. With rising management costs, simply adding more hardware to alleviate the problem is no longer a practical solution".

I-Logik announced today the formation of the I-Logik optimisation libraries. Rather than having separate applications to optimise certain file types, users can now personally customise their optimisation requirements by choosing the optimisation libraries that best suite their needs.

I-Logik have developed three advanced optimisation libraries for everyday common file formats. These include the:

• PowerPoint Optimisation Library - Optimisation of Microsoft PowerPoint presentations (.ppt)

The PackITSuite was put through its paces today after being installed and tested on a sample set of NHS data. The data was made up of PowerPoint presentations, images and Word documents. The PackITSuite analysed and optimised the data achieving an overall reduction of 73%.

PointPackIT was put through its paces yesterday after being installed and tested thoroughly on a multinational corporate's server. PointPackIT was faced with 330GB of PowerPoint presentations ranging from a few hundred kilobytes in size, to well over 100MB. PointPackIT raced through the data achieving an overall reduction of 65%.

It can be seen from the Capabilities section how the growth of digital data is only going to escalate over time. Data storage requirements are now ever increasing due to new compliance mandates that ensure companies take the administration of their data more seriously. Simply adding more hardware to alleviate the problem is no longer a practical solution. Escalating storage management costs, increased back-up windows and decreasing system performance are creating major corporate problems worldwide.
